Aeroacoustics

Arguably the most accurate CFD software for unsteady, complex flows, from subsonic to supersonic speed regimes

Jet noise prediction of an underexpanded jet exhausted from chevron nozzle

The Aeroacoustics module enables accurate prediction of near-field noise and its projection to the far field. In order to capture the low amplitude pressure fluctuations associated with noise generation, high-order computational tools are required. AEROFLO provides this capability at all speeds, from low Mach numbers subsonic flows to hypersonic flows. Various approaches for projecting the near-field sound to the far field are available in AEROFLO.

For the simulation shown below, combined RANS/LES procedures were used for most of the calculations of jet noise, while the combined stability-RANS-wave packet approach was rigorously investigated for unparalleled computational efficiency in noise prediction.
